Scisly named new Bears’ head coach

| Mark Scisly was named the new Boyertown head football coach on February 27th. |
On February 27th, the Boyertown Area School Board approved Mark Scisly as the next head football coach of the high school program.
Scisly will be taking the reigns from Ron Zeiber, who led the Bears for the past six seasons including the PAC-10 title season of 2006.
The 29-year old Scisly comes to Boyertown from Salisbury Township in District 11 where he was the head coach for four seasons. He was a four-year starter at Southern Columbia HS, winning the Class A state title in 1994 and placing second in 1995 and 1996. He continued his playing career, as a four-year starting offensive lineman, at Ursinus College. Welcome to Boyertown Coach Scisly!

Next BAFA Meeting on August 6th
The next Boyertown Area Football Association meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 at 8:00 PM at the Boyertown Orioles. Monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month, except for January and December. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting. Feel free to bring a friend and any new ideas.

Parents Association Meeting on June 17th
The next BASH Football Parents meeting will be June 17th in the LGI room, at 7 PM. We will also be having a car wash on June 21st at Argento's Pizza along with a Bake Sale at the nearby CVS. Come out and let the football team clean your vehicles and grab some goodies to eat! Then, on August 9th, we will be holding a Reverse Raffle. For tickets to the Reverse Raffle, contact Donna Muller at dnmuller@comcast.net.

Sands selected to PA's Big 33 team

| Tyler Sands was chosen to play in the Big 33 Classic, featuring the top players from PA and OH. |
Senior lineman Tyler Sands has been selected to be a part of the Pennsylvania team in the Big 33 Classic. The game is showcase of the top high school football players from both PA and Ohio. Sands was one of the 34 players selected for the PA team, which will take on the best players from Ohio on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Hersheypark Stadium.
Sands will be attending the University of Illinois in the fall on a football scholarship. He chose to play for head coach Ron Zook and the Fighting Illini back in late July after receiving scholarship offers from 23 Division I college football programs.
