• Lineman and tackle for Pottstown, also was on the track team throwing discus (3rd in Ches-Mont as a senior)
• Competed in football (four-year starter and captain as a senior), basketball, and track at Delaware Valley College
• Honorable Mention Little All-American as a senior at DelVal
• Tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers
• Assistant football coach at Boyertown from 1959 to 1981, then head coach from 1982 to 1987
• Coached track and taught earth science for 37 years at Boyertown
• Director of the Venzke Relays for 30 years

  • Married to his wife Sara for 48 years with three children (Keely, Kelly, and Keith) and four grandchildren
  • Credits his years of coaching success to his wife and kids
• Best Boyertown Football Memory
  • Coaching the JV team in 1979, playing all games on the road and going undefeated. A group of mothers (called the JV Jollies) went to every game for support.
