- Lineman and tackle for Pottstown, also was on the track team throwing discus (3rd in Ches-Mont as a senior)
- Competed in football (four-year starter and captain as a senior), basketball, and track at Delaware Valley College
- Honorable Mention Little All-American as a senior at DelVal
- Tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers
- Assistant football coach at Boyertown from 1959 to 1981, then head coach from 1982 to 1987
- Coached track and taught earth science for 37 years at Boyertown
- Director of the Venzke Relays for 30 years
- Personal
- Married to his wife Sara for 48 years with three children (Keely, Kelly, and Keith) and four grandchildren
- Credits his years of coaching success to his wife and kids
- Best Boyertown Football Memory
- Coaching the JV team in 1979, playing all games on the road and going undefeated. A group of mothers (called the JV Jollies) went to every game for support.
