Boyertown 23, St. Pius X 13
At Boyertown, Tom Froehlich, stepping in for injured starter Logan Herb, ran for 184 yards on 26 carries as the Bears (1-1, 2-2) ground out a PAC-10 win against the Winged Lions (1-1, 3-1).
Boyertown kept it on the ground for much of the night, largely due to a first-half injury to starting quarterback Dylan Pasik. Chase Garber, a sophomore, ran the offense throughout the second half.
The Bears finished with 325 rushing yards on 58 attempts. Ryan Schwager returned from a first-half injury to finish with 81 yards on 15 carries.
Pasik ran it in from 14 yards with 1:20 to go in the first quarter to give Boyertown the early lead, then Aaron Sassaman booted three straight field goals to make it 16-0.
St. Pius X recovered a botched punt in the end zone late in the third quarter to make it a 10-point game, but the Bears answered with a 62-yard scoring drive that was capped by a Schwager 3-yard TD run.
